What to Expect on Your First Visit
Central Registration:
For your first visit, start at Central Registration in the main Atrium, across from the A elevators. After you register, go to the 5th floor for your appointment. For future visits, you can go straight to the 5th floor.
Assessment:
A hand therapist will check your hand or wrist to see how it’s healing. This may include a physical exam, range of motion tests, and looking at recent X-rays. Your first session may take 30–60 minutes.
Personalized Plan:
We will talk about your treatment options and make a plan to help you recover. This may include exercises, splints, or other therapies. Your progress really depends on your active participation in your home exercise program.
Your Goals:
We will discuss your goals and answer your questions. Your comfort and understanding are important to us.
Next Steps:
We will schedule follow-up visits and explain any home exercises or changes to help your recovery. Follow-up sessions usually take 30–45 minutes.
Who Pays for My Therapy?
Therapy is covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).
Splints and other equipment are not covered by OHIP. You will pay for these items at the end of your visit.
If you were hurt at work, the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) may pay for your therapy and any equipment your therapist recommends.
We look forward to supporting you on your journey to recovery!
