In the Medical Day Care Clinic we perform a number of treatments. The lists below are common treatments that are performed.
- Blood Transfusions – the process of receiving blood or blood products into one's circulation intravenously. Transfusions are used for various medical conditions to replace lost components of the blood.
- Venofer Infusion – administered intravenously for the treatment of Iron Deficient Anemia.
- Phlebotomy - A procedure that removes blood from the body as part of testing or transfusions.
- Bone marrow test - takes a sample of your bone tissue to look for abnormalities in your blood cells and signs of any diseases.
- Antibiotic Treatment – To treat some bacterial infections antibiotics may be required to be administered intravenously. The full dose may be administered in our clinic or the first dose may be administered in our clinic with the remainder administered in the comfort of your own home by CCAC. Your doctor will provide you more information on which option will be followed.
- IV IG – Immunoglobin products are used to treat a wide variety of immune deficiencies.
- Lumbar Puncture (also known as a Spinal Tap) - Is a procedure to collect and look at the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
- Paracentesis- Procedure to take out excess fluid that has collected in the abdomen (belly)
- Thoracentesis- This procedure is done to remove excess fluid, from the pleural space (space between the lungs and chest wall).

- Please bring your Health card (OHIP Card). If you do not have an OHIP card, please bring another form of government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license, passport, or other provincial health card).
- If you were given a medical information package by your doctor bring that with you.
- Bring your current Medications or a List of All of your Current Medications
