With over 90,000 people living with diabetes in our community, and the number expected to rise, diabetes education is more important today than ever before. At the Diabetes Management Centre a large team of nurses, dietitians, endocrinologists, a social worker, and exercise specialist, support over 10,000 people from our community every year.
People with diabetes learn how healthy eating and physical activity help control diabetes. They are also supported on how to test blood sugar levels, learn about diabetes pills and how to give insulin injections.
The Diabetes Management Centre offers a variety of programs:
- Classes for people with type 2, gestational and pre-diabetes
- Individual counselling
- Transitional group for young adults moving from a paediatric program
