Paediatric Hospital Care Reminder
If a child requires overnight admission or ongoing treatment at Trillium Health Partners, they will receive their care at Credit Valley Hospital.
Children and families can always access emergency care at any of our emergency departments. If needed, we will ensure a safe transfer to the appropriate facility.
Trillium Health Partners Women’s and Children’s Inpatient Care Moving to the Credit Valley Hospital
In January 2024 we announced that our women’s and children’s inpatient care would be integrated to the Credit Valley Hospital while we prepare for the future Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children.
We are now happy to share that as of the Credit Valley Hospital. This change will continue until construction is complete on the Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children — the first hospital of its kind in Ontario, dedicated to the unique healthcare needs of women and children.
What does this mean for you?
Renovations at the Credit Valley Hospital are already underway to ensure a smooth experience for patients and families. Once the move to the Credit Valley Hospital is complete, all our emergency departments (EDs) will continue to provide safe, accessible, high-quality care for children and people with pregnancy, reproductive and/or gynecological emergencies. If specialized care or admission is required, the hospital’s dedicated teams will work with the patient and their family to ensure they receive the right care at the right place.
Select paediatric clinics will remain at or adjacent to the Mississauga Hospital, including the Family Care Centre and Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Services. You can find a full list of outpatient clinics here.
Trillium Health Partners offers a range of services for babies, children and adolescents, including neonatal services, paediatric services, and health and fitness services.
At Trillium Health partners, we understand that going to hospital can be a challenging experience for children and their families. That is why we strive to create a warm and welcoming environment and provide unique supports such as our Child Life Specialist, who helps children and their families cope with stressful life events, particularly as they related to health care experiences and our “Poke Program,” an initiative for children admitted to hospital aimed at making procedures – such as IV starts and bloodwork – a more positive experience.
