About Us

Trillium Health Partners is committed to the education and cultivation of expertise by providing training and development opportunities to our staff and all health professionals. We have a formal affiliation agreement with the University of Toronto to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and have over fifty affiliation agreements with colleges and universities to deliver clinical education to nursing and allied health professional students.  Trillium Health Partners is also an associate member of the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network (TAHSN).

What We Do

In collaboration with physicians, our partners in professional practice, clinical services and front line staff, the Education Office  provides the planning, coordination and support to ensure our students receive an exceptional educational experience.

Funding

Trillium Health Partners is on a fee-for-service based payment plan and therefore funding for medical education is primarily through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s  (MOHLTC) Medical Trainee Day (MTD) funding, specifically Hospital Academic Cost (HAC) and Hospital Operating Cost (HOC).  The hospital also receives a teaching adjustment to its Hospital Based Allocation Model (HBAM) funding.

Funding for family medicine education is through the Department of Community and Family Medicine (DFCM) at the University of Toronto.
